Heroes Honored
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
In honor of the day, I thought I'd post some follow up pictures to the Harvest Festival.
Here's the horn I received in the mail after completing the Honor Uther quest:
And here's my having a bit of fun after I realized I could make the heroes /cheer and /salute:
Now I'm off to go find that pie vendor in Ironforge. I think I'll send some treats to a few old friends today. :)

2006-October Events
As I mentioned, September was a yawner but October looks like it's going to shape up twice as nice! Hallow's End has always been full of fun little content and decorations. But with the Harvest Festival thrown in as well it's going to be a busy month. Too bad this is a terrible time for me at work!
From the Events Calendar for October:
| Event | Dates |
|---|---|
| Harvest Festival | Tue October 3 - Mon October 9 |
| Darkmoon Faire (Elwynn) | Mon October 9 - Sun October 15 |
| Hallow's End | Wed October 18 - Wed November 1* |
| Call to Arms: Warsong Gulch! | October 6 - October 9 |
Call to Arms: Arathi Basin! | October 13 - October 16 |
| Call to Arms: Alterac Valley! | October 27 - October 30 |
During a Call to Arms, emmissaries from that Battleground will be found in the major cities, and honor/faction rewards for performing objectives in that battleground are increased.
* One month ago this was going to run from the 14th through the end of the month. When I checked it again after the Harvest Festival information was released we seemed to lose a few days (now starts on the 18th).
I know it must be tough as a developer to keep dates straight (I blame, but cannot yet prove, copying and pasting of previous year data!) . It just makes it also tough as a player to plan ahead when dates keep changing and :
- Holidays are one of my favorite parts of the game, so I want to find time to play them and
- I also have to juggle real life needs (In this case getting a ton of work done before November 1st). The good news for me is that I have to travel to a conference the second week of October. Luckily that's during the Darkmoon Faire which is around every month.
I'm also going to try to watch when Hallow's End actually ends. Does it matter that October 31st is a Tuesday? Will it be effective on November 1st or not in effect on November 1st? (I think I would read it as in effect on that date an I think Blizzard means it won't be.)

Preliminary Harvest Festival Data
Sometime last night Blizzard released information about a "new" event. Here's the Official Harvest Festival page. It says the event will run from October 3 through 9.
I've been doing some research and was surprised to see how much information was available for something that hasn't happened yet. This comment on thottbot seemed to explain a lot.
...it was Primarily intended for the Korean players, but that it was made active Globally.
So given some of the changing information available, I'd like to be clear that all of this is preliminary data only.
Foods Available At the Harvest
These seem to be available for lower level characters - they would be right outside of Orgrimmar and Iron Forge:
Harvest Boar
Harvest Nectar
Harvest Fruit
Harvest Fish
Higher Level Quests
For higher level characters there are quests to honor specific heroes:
| Faction | Honors | Location | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alliance Quest | Uther Lightbringer | Western Plaguelands 52,83 | For the Light!* |
| Horde Quest | Grom Hellscream | Demon Fall Canyon, Ashenvale 83,78 | Horde's Hellscream* |
* The books appear to have no use other than as a tribute.
The Quests
- Pick up the quest outside of IF or Orgrimmar. Travel to the monument/tomb.
- Around the monument and tomb are level 29-30 ish mobs.
- Place the tribute (received from the quest giver) at the tomb.
Expect 6,600 xp for the quests and 200 faction honor. A few days later in the mail you will also receive Bread and/or Water with 2%/25 seconds health/mana restoration. (But they are conjured so may disappear.)
